Catherine Morgan (more commonly known as Cutlass Cate), is the battle strategist, and (since Vampirates: Tide of Terror), the Deputy Captain of The Diablo. She is most famous for inventing the 4-8-8 boarding formation, where sixty boarders divide into 3 groups of twenty, further dividing into one group of four (broadsworders for slashing enemy rigging) and two groups of eight (Epée and Rapier bearers).

She always appears confident. She is not one for hugging, and remains highly professional when at sea. She takes the duties of her rank very seriously, and is annoyed when she is kept from doing her job the best she can.
